How to Start Reselling Vintage Clothes on Vinted in the UK

by Vintagegarms4u on Sep 05, 2026
UK vintage clothing stock for Vinted resellers on a clothing rail

Starting a vintage resale side business on Vinted can be simple, but the difference between random selling and a repeatable business usually comes down to stock control, pricing and consistency.

1. Decide what kind of stock you want to sell

You do not need to sell every style. Some resellers focus on denim, knitwear, jackets, branded sportswear or seasonal clothing. A clearer niche can make sourcing and listing faster because you learn what your buyers respond to.

2. Know your cost per piece before you buy

Always divide the bundle cost by the number of garments. For example, a 10-piece bundle at £65 costs £6.50 per item before packaging and other selling costs. A 20-piece bundle at £120 costs £6 per item. That gives you a realistic base for pricing instead of guessing.

3. Understand what a mixed reseller bundle means

With vintage wholesale, exact garments can vary. Before ordering, check whether brands, sizes, styles and individual items are guaranteed or mixed. Treat representative stock photos as examples unless the listing says the exact garments pictured are included.

4. Photograph every garment clearly

Use bright, consistent lighting and show the front, back, labels, key details and any visible wear. Buyers are more comfortable purchasing pre-owned clothing when the photos answer their questions before they need to ask.

5. Write titles for search, not just style

Include the useful facts buyers actually search for: brand when verified, colour, garment type, fit or pattern where relevant, and size. Avoid adding labels or materials you cannot confirm.

6. Price from the market, not emotion

Check comparable sold and active listings, then factor in your cost per piece and desired margin. Fast-moving stock may justify a tighter margin if it helps cash turn over quickly. Slower statement pieces may need a different strategy.

7. Track what sells

A simple spreadsheet can be enough. Record purchase cost, date listed, sale price, days to sell and category. After a few dozen sales you should be able to see which stock types deserve more buying budget.

8. Restock from evidence

Once you know the categories that move, buy more of those rather than choosing the next bundle only because it looks interesting. Reselling becomes much easier when stock purchasing is based on your own sell-through data.

9. Check grading and supplier transparency

Pre-owned vintage is not identical new retail stock. Read how the supplier describes Grade A, Grade B or mixed Grade A/B, check whether images are exact or representative, and make sure delivery and returns information is easy to find before you buy.

Our Vintage Wholesale & Reseller FAQ explains how the current VG4U bundles work.

If you want to start with a ready-made box, the current 10-piece mixed vintage box is £65. You can also view all current UK vintage reseller bundles.

No supplier can guarantee your resale profit, so treat each purchase as inventory and measure the results. The resellers who improve fastest are usually the ones who know their numbers.
